Interestingly, the grounds stations in your area were showing much quieter readings, but those privately owned reporting stations are always of suspect quality and mounting position.

Your self assessment left out another consideration, and that was you COULD have left home after the storm passed. Had the storm veered slightly from its forecast track, you might have ended your story badly. But you would have kept your schedule.
