night when I first arrive in a new anchorage. I use waypoints set down onto my track line at every turn and twist going into the anchorage. That way if it turns to sh^% in the middle of the night I have my track already to go. I pull the anchor and there is no need to worry about which way to head. I just follow my track from point to point and just have to watch out for other boats. It's paid off twice in the last 7 years and that's not a bad record and shows that it better to be prepared.
