Well...The slugs should slide

Try using a clear teflon (not with oil as a medium). McLube is the "Cadillac" of these -- Elmers at the hardware store used to be pretty good.

You may need to clean the track, Todd.

The sail should drop if you don't have full battens AND if you halyard isn't twisted. You might take it off and make sure it's untwisted. Sometime the core will show twists that the outer cover won't telegraph.

A full batten with sail batt fittings worked on our Sabre 42. We didn't have to go with the Strong Track (or the Antal that we have on our J/160). The main on the Sabre would have been somewhat bigger than your main should be, I'd think.
