The main sheet is lead from the mid-boom sheeting location forward of the dodger, under the dodger to the sheet winch at the aft end of the house. So if you are sitting at the forward end of the cockpit, the winch is right there. Moving the sheet farther aft would be tricky largely because there is no room for another winch farther aft due to the locations of the main back stays and the shrouds for the mizzen. Actually, you could locate a winch farther aft, but the mizzen stays wouldn't let you crank it. As it is, I am limited to an 8" winch handle on the primary sheet winches because of stay and shroud locations.
