Protected anchorage and beach there too. I didn't feel like dealing with the entry into the anchorage on the S side - chickened out! We went in on July 3 - remember vividly it being cold! We were wearing everything we had trying to keep warm. Next day we went to Grand Manan - of course the tide was against us, so it took a while.
Funny about tides.. We're used to 3-4 foot tides in the local area. First trip to Cape Cod Bay we stopped at the marina in Sandwich and wondered why the ramps to the docks were so long - we found out! 9' tides in CC Bay increase to about 12' by the time you get to Eastport. Once you get on the E side of Grand Manan, you're looking at 22' of tide! But if you go through the reversing falls up into Peter's area, there's 2' or less - limited by the water that can get through the reversing falls. Their high tide is called Spring, when the river floods and the falls no longer reverse.
