Visualize the red line runs behind the mainsheet blocks(sorry).
Override and lead on the winch is one key issue

I see, you are talking about a control line traveler.
The traveler is independent.
That's why they travel. Yep.
A traveler with bearings wouldn't fit on this track. Just flat steel mounted on a wood riser.
You might look at this and consider the concept for "inspiration"

On a smaller boat, used to use the lee winch like that and lead across cockpit to weather side
