12:1 tapered scarf

But you either need a low angle block plane to do it by hand or make up a jig and 'route' the 12:1 taper. Such 12:1 tapered scarfs are used on ultralight lapstrake boats (canoes, kayaks, wherries, whitehalls, etc.) made from okume. Epoxy the tapered scarf together to create a lasting joint
