It doesn't like to get wet in terms of coloring.

It's great for structural pieces though white oak now isn't the same white oak that was harvested a hunnerd years ago and there are a few varieties of white oak. But it will turn dark to black when it gets wet. IF you can keep it varnished or painted successfully and no water reaches it, it will be ok. But.....the other caveat for me is that its hardness requires extra care in installing fasteners.

Ordinarily I agree with Todd on most everything but I've seen to much streaky black white oak in use to want to use it myself.
