Funny you mention wind blowing a boat over because it's mast is up.

The only boats to get blown over at our club have been power boats.
The surface area of a hull and cabin are 100x that of the area of the mast. If the boat is properly supported by stands or a cradle the slightly higher 'push' it may get from wind shouldn't be a significant force.

- I store mast-up but believe your club is right (is better down)
