is pretty good, although the wind and tide can be at odds and I have seen lots of people drag and not all boats swing the same. I have done the CM to Ches. City many times, going around, as the mast will not go under the Cape May canal bridges. Long day, but doable if you leave early. Ches. City is hillbilly country, but the basin is a very good anchorage. Ches. City to Annapolis is relatively easy.
I would definitely NOT do the Delaware heading north with a north wind of anything more than 10 mph. despite the tide. You will be hitting square waves. There is no hiding. If you leave via the Atlantic side of Cape May, by the time you get into the Delaware, you are already several hours into the trip, so the inclination will be to not turn back despite the wind/weather. Whereas if you wait for a south or west wind, and catch the tide it is a beautiful trip (except the fact that NJ is on your starboard).
