Get a Nobeltec Version (even an older one from Ebay) w/ Tides and Currents
Put it in on you mobile PC. It's got very good trip planning and visualization graphics that would allow you get a feel for currents, and options.
Did the thunderstorms affect you? The front "blew" through Annapolis earlier this evening, but it looks more "continuous" where you are as seems more stationary along the coast.
