Here are the new Enersys thin plate pure lead batteries, 5 x 145 amp-hours. Nigel Calder has written a lot about these. These are SBS Powersafe batteries normally sold to the telecomms industry. These are supposedly the same internally as other batteries sold by Enersys including Odyssey batteries that are sold to the marine market. The beauty of these is that this style of AGM battery accepts charge at a high rate and due to low internal resistance charges more efficiently than many batteries. We have been keeping them fairly topped up, so have seen high charge rates (> 200 amps @ 12 volts) only a few times so far.
