Hi John... a few answers

Very nice install. I would like to do the exact same thing this fall, probably Spectra and I will also separate my components due to access and space. Any tips you have would be welcome. Whihc unit did you go with, and how many gal/hr ? DC / AC ? Did you T into an existing thruhull or install a dedicated one for the Inlet ? I'm thinking I can T into my one of my bilge hoses on the Outlet. Any idea of total cost including the install ? Once I get a watermaker I will probably plumb the head so it gets fresh water flush, that would be nice.

I have a Spectra Ventura 150 Deluxe Watermaker. It is rated at 6 gallons per hour. The unit draws about 9 amps of 12 volts and is recognized as being quite efficient due to the Clark pump. I had a good location to add a thru hull and related filter. I don't have to worry about contamination from other systems wreaking havoc on the sensitive reverse osmosis membranes. There was no problem t-ing into a scupper drain for the brine discharge.

The Spectra units are efficient but I don't think I'd go so far as to use them for toilet flush water! It all takes energy after all!

All of my cost info is at home and I'm at Morro Bay, CA now. My recollection is that the installer used a good part of a week to do the installation, including the fabrication of a mounting board and glassing it on to the hull under the sink. It all takes time to do it right. Theoretically, I could have done the install, but it wasn't in the time budget. I've done enough of this stuff myself to really appreciate the experience of a pro!
