The engine driven charging system now has a 210 amp Balmar alternator and the stock Hitachi 80 amp alternator on our Yanmar 4JH3T engine.

The Alt Mount mounting kit is beautifully engineered and saved huge headaches for the yard, well worth the cost. And it's purrrty too!

Fortunately Malo provided a nearly empty conduit to run those fat cables forward to the house bank located next to the mast. I needed to take many iPhone movies in a tight space under the battery box to figure out how to snake a messenger line that we could use to pull the cables.

The alternators are managed by a Balmar dual smart regulator. The alternators are programmed very conservatively for a maximum of about 72% of rated alternator output. That results in a maximum charge rate of about 220 amps.

The wide serpentine belt assures long life.
