If I had the money for a mega-yacht I really don't think I would even want it. I don't envy and don't care about those things. But I do marvel a bit that so many people have that kind of disposable income.
When we go to Block Island my wife and make it a point to dinghy over and walk the docks at Champlins at least once each trip for entertainment (it's such a zoo). Last time we were there two mega-yachts were tied to the gas pier and the guests in both were "being served" dinner dockside (uniformed crew of course). They might as well have been shouting: "LOOK AT ME, PEASANTS"!
My wife and I looked at each other and we laughed... Of all the places on BI -- the fuel dock with music blasting from the Tiki Bar and drunks staring from the dock would probably be our LAST CHOICE of atmosphere for a luxury gourmet dinner. We'd be out in the Salt Pond somewhere where the sunset is the same no matter how big or small your boat is.
BTW this is Westport MA a few years ago. We went there on a July 4th weekend to avoid the crowds in the more frequented harbors.
