Looks like Pelican will be sold by next Saturday.
In Response To: This is Pelican (photos) ()

A denizen of this board contacted me last night and has made arrangements to come by next week to look at the boat. She works in the marine industry and isn't intimidated by the cosmetics Pelican needs to shine, nor is she put off by the lack of an inboard (apparently a "real" sailor)

Theres also a local gentleman who contacted me yesterday. He looked at her this morning and wants to put an offer. I told him I wasn't accepting offers until the gal from this board also had a chance to see the boat.

To be fair to them both, I've agreed not to list the boat anywhere (its never been advertised - just word of mouth to friends like Tom who mentioned it here) so its just between these two people. So to those of you who have been helping talk it up - thank you but I don't need to spread the word any more. We have a buyer - one of these two.

After the denizen has had a chance to look at the boat (and sleep on it), both prospective buyers will present their best offer blind (not knowing the other partys bid) and the highest number will take her Saturday of next week.... no matter what that is (no minimum)

I'm forwarding them a copy of the last survey done on the boat so they both will have exactly the same information to go on.

Both these people sound really cool and want to do some voyaging and appreciate Pelican's potential. I want the boat to find the best home possible and I figure this is a good process... the person to whom it has the most value will own her in a cash sale as-is where-is.

And perhaps coolest of all, both prospective buyers have promised to send me postcards and photos of the boat in exotic locations around the world so I can enjoy his or her adventure vicariously. Can't beat that, can you?

I'm excited!
