Some people may find that a complexity overload though(like Harry!) and be more interested in the simple shanty boat.

I'd bet you could build something to Byrans plans (using the plywood hull option) for about 20k materials. It would take a lot of time but less than you'd be putting into the Chris Craft over several years,(most likely in rough shape with 20k asking price), just to keep it floating, dry and serviceable. There's a lot of work in that old Chris Craft, just waiting for someone....
