Thanks and more on shantyboats
In Response To: Great website you have. ()

Thanks. I have a friend who is just a few years younger than me We are a pair straight out of the grasshopper and the ant, in that while I have worked for the same company for more than 32 years, he's never held a full time job. Oh, he's had a great time, as have I, but he's paid nothing into social security. Retirement income, plan, savings, 401k... they just aren't a part of his life. And I worry that a way to live when he is old just isn't out there. My wife worries that he will be living in our basement in our sunset years. I think we should give him a few sheets of plywood, some sticks and a se of plans so he can live for NOTHING on the water.

That's a long way of answering your question about the future of shanyboats. Whatever your politics, and let's just not go there anyone, there are going to be lots of people without enough savings. The statistics are scary. If too many huge crazy monstrosities show up, or even charming ramshackle shantys like the ones of old, they will be legislated out of existence. But.. those that can be trailered.. those that have at least a passing resemblance to boats... I think those are going to start showing up far more often... and more successfully.

Anyone else share or dispute that thinking?

Thanks

Bryan
