Shanty boats will be compromises just like anything. Jaunty will be capable of traveling in more conditions than many Shanty boat designs I expect, more boat than Shanty .

I think the one I posted with it's own outboard will be the upper limit of how seaworthy they'll be.

I remember Jay Benford did some tug boat designs a couple decades ago that really were more of a shantyboat in tug/trawler clothes. They didn't look too seaworthy to me. It's better that Shanty boats not pretend to be anything more than they are I think.
