Many years ago a friend was anchored in Keehi Lagoon when it was still a free federal anchorage. Some of the stuff folks were living on was clever, some apalling. Foam block rafts with blue tarp rooves, etc.

More recently, though, in Portland Or was a guy living on 25'er or so power boat with the uibiquitous blue tarp cover anchored in the river between yacht clubs, so to speak. He's moved it now but was there for over two years I can think of.
