That's not supposed to happen.

The tube (and the hull) are supposed to be 'forever' parts. Are you sure it's not the rubber hose? That's much easier to fix.
Several years ago we were half way between here and there, when the Admiral asks "What's all this water down here?" Bilge water was just coming over the floor boards! Turns out the rubber hoses attached to the cockpit drains had given up and split between the reinforcing wires - apparently damage from winter freeze/thaw cycles in the cockpit drains. Following seas were filling the hoses and each wave was putting half a pint into the boat. A bit of tape solved the immediate problem, and the cockpit drains were subsequently run without low freeze points.
