Inner forestay is 25% of the J dimension aft of the stem... I've really come to like having the staysail on a furler, it's so simple to switch gears. On a boat the size of mine, by the time it might be consider changing down to the staysail, conditions are gonna be way too sporty to be much fun to going forward to deal with a hank on staysail, especially in the colder weather I often find myself sailing in...
The key to making it all work, is the ability to stow the staysail furler whenever I might be wanting to be short tacking with the genoa. I use a Wichard pelican hook tensioning wheel, that can be taken back to the shrouds and stowed out of the way, as pictured...
