That's the idea...

My inner forestay is not setup as removable, and is about 80% of J.
I also have a curved track just forward of the mast for self tacking the staysail.

The plan I have settled on as the wind picks up:
1/Reef the jib (110%)on the headstay.
2/Furl the jib on the headstay and hoist the staysail (already hanked on in a ready bag).
3/Reef the staysail.
4/drop the staysail stow in bag and Hank on storm jib. Pennant at tack to clear the staysail (still hanked on in bag).

This boat is still fairly new to me (one season on the water), and I have not purchased the storm jib yet, so I have never done this in real conditions.

One thing I may need to do is add running backstays for the staysail. The staysail stay is parallel to the forestay and attached to the mast quite far from the backstay or shrouds. The boat never had running backstays, perhaps the mast section is stiff enough without them ?

Cheers,
JM.
