DDW, many thanks for this amazing analysis. Being the old traditionalist I am, I never thought about it this way and it makes sense, not that I am going to make my Pearson into an unstayed rig. That said, I do check my chain plates regularly and the next time the spar is down, they are coming out for an inspection and or replacement. Again, thanks for an interesting analysis. Now I understand some things, though I will have to look-up a few of the terms. I stand humbled.
