Jeez Dan, I said the woodworking was better, that's all. If you read some of my other posts about the IP you would know that there are a bunch of things I find to be "not so great". The abyss called the keel sump, the access to important things like packing glands and prop shafts, battery maintenance, oil changes, bilge pumps and float switches and yes, backing plates. I believe the backing plate in question is behind the dish locker in a corner by the icebox. You can't get to that from the cockpit locker and I can't really see it. The stanchions are mounted through the teak toe rail, yes they will need to be rebedded. I get the feeling that most IP owners are not DIY people though.
It does have nice looking woodwork though..........
