It IS splintery when working. But after sanding it's smooth and nice, break the edges a bit.

I think IIRC the compression strength is like 100,000 psi. You can consult a book called Woods of the World which has info on gluing a huge variety of woods. I gave my copy to my daughter's beau so can't find it for you. Info must be on line though.

I prefer with oily woods to acetone wipe. I find taking two swipes with clean acetoned cloth is best.

IIRC, however, Ipe is good to glue..........for what' my memory is worth.
