      • The residential decking industry touts Ipe for it's lack of splintering.
        • It IS splintery when working. But after sanding it's smooth and nice, break the edges a bit.
          • We call it 'easing the edge' on this coast, Westy.
            • Well, if it were I, I'd 'ease' the edge a taste. I've had Ipe splinters in my hand, they.....
              • My little experience and observation, the caulking is usually proud of the wood.
                • At the local boat show last weekend was a 36 Morris daysailer being refurbed by Schooner Creek.

            • Hmmm- I go barefoot most of the time, and the docks here were built in 2011. Hard to say why
    • Wait, where are the strain guages and the like...
      • I was amazed that the 3/4" Fir plywood bent more than the 3/8" Ipe.
