Thru Hulls... R&R
Don't forget to drop the mast before hauling to eliminate undue stress on the rig.
Gosh I had it hauled for the survey...
Let the yard do it
What were the reasons it cost so much Dave?
Costs
Yikes!
Gene you've read all the advice
The money time equation doesn't work here...
That sounds reasonable. What's odd to me, is this a quote, a fixed price to do the job?
Estimate.
Well, as a builder myself,....
It's not very difficult to do yourself but
Do I trust myself???
Gene... what is the scope?
all bronze...
The Groco tri-flange base seacock is $185 from Defender?
this
You are replacing the threaded "thru hull" but not the valves?
No actually...
That's what I figured you were doing. Sounds reasonable to me.
So,IF they're quoting $300 Furnished & Installed (as is said in the GC business)...
Apollo valves
Nobody cares about your boat as much as you do
Thanks for the education... Good stuff
The interesting thing about that site...
Actually, it's my understanding that
The threads on a proper seacock match the threads on the thru-hull...
The Groco seacock actually DOES use a ball valve
Pretty much all seacocks now use ball valves, however...
To calrify....
"clarify"
To clarify even more...
Coming in a bit late, I would do it myself..
Gene..

Use Marelon
I agree.
Servicing Marelon? How?
Marelon are serviceable, and come in two flavors....
DDW.....
The newer ones do not have the locking pin...
Brian..
My new one...
Don't know the whole model history, but mine come apart...
OH man. I disagree. Had failures on marelon thru hulls, never use one again.
Over 184 years of experience
I din't know you was that old. You're keeping yourself well...
Have "plastics" been around that long?
Well it does take 8 seacocks to get that much experience
Serially? THat's what I'd expect with Marelon...
Based on that I have 260 years of experience...
Marelon...
