() I replaced one of my 25 Y.O. 3/4 inch ones last spring. It did not have the locking pin. I think they put those in for a few years to address fears of them coming apart in use.
No, I don't know an easy way to get the pin out but I have never tried. I have never had to.

- OH man. I disagree. Had failures on marelon thru hulls, never use one again.
