17 hours on Monhegan Island.
Coasting alongside the quiet cliffs, the silence was spectacular.
The island came to an end though, and we turned back into the wind
Safely connected to a large industrial mooring, our boat began a raucous dance.
At midnight, I decided I'd try to rig another line to get the bow on the crashing waves.
We did survive of course, and following a nice breakfast, we hit the dinghy to head for shore.
The wind still roared on the island.
I could see the top of the spruce spar on Xmas in a few places, it was gyrating,...
Monhegan is a good cross section of Coastal Maine.
Back on board, I thanked the rusty cable, and cracked off for the mainland.
Wonderful pictorial essay! Thank you! Always good to survive the savage sea.
Thanks Westie, sometimes things just don't go that well.
So there are moorings "outside" the tiny harbor?
Hi Dave, I never like the "outiside" moorings anywhere, either.
Solution to avoid chafe when attaching to metal
you'll have to teach me how to do that with a digital camera
Unable to get on shore that afternoon Jerry, those were taken the next day.
