Hmmm,, Cartagena to get work done

Mostly either white sand or grass. The grass isn't that thick down there but gets thicker as you go north. I think that Providencia was the thickest grass we've seen. A 6" matt of the stuff.

If you have any major work to be done on your new boat, get it done in Cartagena while you're in the Kuna Yala area for hurricane season. I've seen some really nice stainless work as well as fiberglass, joinery and other boat stuff. We never made it to Cartagena (went to Bocas Del Toro instead) but a number of boats that came back from Cartagena were sporting new stuff and the owners were happy with the work and the price.

The San Blas needs to be called 'Kuna Yala'. San Blas was the name the Spanish called it while they were killing the local Kuna's. They don't like the name 'San Blas' very much.

Kuna Yala (the San Blas) is wonderful,,but then you've been to the South Pacific so you're probably jaded.

Roatan and the Bay Islands of Honduras are wonderful and the clearest water we've found. Our favorite places in the Western Caribbean were 'Kuna Yala' and the 'Bay Islands of Honduras',,, but then,,, there are so many great places in the Western Caribbean. We planned on a year but it became 3 1/2.

Kuna Yala, Portobello, Bocas Del Toro, San Andres, Providencia, Vivirillos, Roatan, the Rio Dulce, and the Myan ruins of Mexico and Isla Mojeres (near Cancun). a lot if nice places and a lot of good people cruising the area that don't want to come home.

Oh,,, Lighthouse Reef and the 'Blue Hole' a beautiful area although Belize itself wasn't that great and really expensive (everyone was at 'West End' Roatan)

One thing about the cruising in the Western Caribbean is that it's got some uncomfortable seas. Timing your passages for weather is everything.

I'm going to miss it. Check into our website in a month or two and it will be updated
