It's always uncomfortable leaving the boat and going to shore when it's blowing 30 knots, you've got a 5 to 1 scope and good fetch. It happens a lot but I always feel uncomfortable. Especially if I dropped the hook only an hour or two ago.
Happens a lot but with a good anchor and chain at least you feel it's suppose to stay put. As we dingy away I say to myself,, "I've got a good anchor, ample scope and room behind the boat. It should be fine". Then I cross my fingers.
Diving on it and getting a visual is the best assurance you can get.
