We had a similar experience. The EEE Pc was nice, but I guess there's something to the "you get what you pay for" saying. We had to ship ours back when the keyboard quit, they fixed it under warranty but a year later, it quit again and this time I gave up and went back to using the MacBook Pro -- not perfect, but a bit more reliable.
Too bad, I really liked the little EEE Pc and it was great to travel with ... I didn't worry about it being stolen in a foreign country traveling inland to some pretty remote spots. If I ever planned an extended trip to a remote 3rd world country, I might get one again ... I didn't want to worry about getting the Mac stolen while we were in Peru for six weeks, and the EEE Pc (i.e. Asus) was a perfect solution... it stored my photos, it worked on hard wire connect web we had in the apartment we rented, it was terrific. Then we started using it for navigation on the boat and it was fine for a year ... after that, not so much.
Cheers! Jan
