You can actually compare technologies in certain cities and markets to see what works best...
On the other hand, the market is not fully built out as the demand is not there... compared to Europe. How many of your landlocked neighbors for instance still have hard wired phones?
How many folks do you know refuse to use cell phones? Why... because they have a choice.
And yes indeed the carriers still treat cell phones as phones vice "data devices," which the smart phones are. Carriers also charge a premium for SMS... which is ridiculous. So in that respect we also have carriers that are rather backward with their views... and have held back what is available on their networks in spite of the availability of the technology... they use new features as a marketing gimmick to bring customers back into their stores.
We also don't have independent SIM or RUIM card shops as are commonly found in other countries.
