Couple things I find interesting...

Telus in BC, Canada was/is the corresponding technology for Verizon phones and roaming. Verizon didn't have a GSM chip but Telus is migrating towards it. In fact, we got a Telus chip for our Ipad and, while limited in data volume, (500 mb/mo for $20), it worked well for our 5 week cruise north this year.

- Yes, when Cruising outside the US, probably not worth it.
- Because the 3G version has built-in GPS for nav programs, the WiFi version requires a separate Blue-tooth GPS
