Close, but still low!
In Response To: $5,000 ()

Yes, indeedy it was over $5k.

Last night we did a total rethink of how we are going to prepare the boat. Instead of hiring contractors, my wife is going to fly to Annapolis 2 weeks before our planned launch and do everything she can possibly do by herself. She'll still have to hire out the mast wiring and the autopilot ram attachment, but the rest she is capable of doing. It will be a bit of a grand adventure for her. She's plenty capable and has done this work on our boats in the past, but this time she'll be on her own. Frankly, we think this is a fantastic way for her to become intimately familiar with the boat before it even hits the water. She'll also be able to take care of the bottom paint and some minimal varnish needs that we were going to farm out. It's a win-win-win situation. The only drawback is I'll be still working in Madrid, living vicariously through her adventure, but this seems like the right time for such a thing.
