Bet you can get a signal from the top of the Penobscot Narrows Bridge!

It's a ways up the river, for sure. Along with being less ilyllic (Bucksport is a mill town after all), I suspect the tidal currents rip through there. The Penobscot River carries a lot of water.

There's an observatory at the top of one of the towers. Still haven't been there yet, but I'd like to go, just to check out the view from the top.

What strikes me about this picture is how tiny the old suspension bridge looks next to the new, modern structure. We used to cross the old Waldo-Hancock Bridge often when I was a kid and the family drove to Bucksport to visit my grandmother. It always seemed so HUGE! I remember walking across it once and my heart was up in my throat, it was such a long way down to the water. Now it just looks little.

Sadly, the old Waldo-Hancock bridge is slated to be dismantled this year. Its time is past; kind of an end to an era.
