It's a large enough daily/weekly migration from points south, that a few private "limo" services move a constant flow of people from Portland and Boston up route 1 over the road to this area. Not limos, more likely a Prius. It's constant (no waiting), fast, and affordable. Air into Owlshead isn't bad if you take advantage of their deals, but it's more weather dependent.

As with a second home, not a bad idea for a boat in Maine, especially kept at a dock somewhere. If you're on a mooring, you can take the slower bus with all the stuff you'd want, for about what it would cost to bring a car, and watch a movie you've seen, again.... We're sailors, what's the hurry?
