It was still called Rt. 3 when we drove it last week

But change comes quickly to that part of Maine.

Trying to find enough time to cruise Maine? Move your boat here.
I read the link..
Good detail! Better to take the Bucks Harbor Marine seasonal mooring.
Also you pretty much have to have a favorable tide to get in/out of Bucksport...
Thanks Peter
No cell service in the harbor; is why so cheap!
LOL you won't find me there.
It's a long drive!
I was discussing Maine with my wife
The hike up the hill to the quarries and a cell signal is good for you.
Bet you can get a signal from the top of the Penobscot Narrows Bridge!
NoMoPhobia?
Another spot worth noting..
I prefer Horseshoe Cove.
Don't know about the Outback but Boothbay is another good base.
No problem, I think I can remember being disconnected before (grin)
I'm told most of Boothbay Harbor proper is hot with WiFi
I'm having them put up new tower for Todd, too
Seriously, stick one on top of Cadillac Mountain!
Last time I was there, they were secured and spotty at best (that was two years ago)
Across for Castine there's a wonderful Bay.
I thought you meant Smith Cove
Smith Cove is the name (it's not too "covey"
On your general note, there is a good sized "fly up" to Portland.
Moving to Maine
I only advocate the sailing. If you moved here and don't like cold weather,...
Roger that
Blue Hill, that must have been an adventure. We came in as you were leaving.

Couldn't find anything.
Start here.
But, the exceptions still apply
Maine use tax is around $100 for a 40' sailboat
Maine excise tax
Sorry, I meant excise tax
Here's the excise tax table
Taxes are slightly higher now
There must be some local variation
Here's the actual law
Thank you for sharing that Richard, fascinating stuff.
A lot of those who "retire" in Maine...
Poshport, I love that.
Health care
Good advice. In the huge and expanding retirement housing industry, I see a lot of pittfalls for buyers.
We moved here for the solitude and LOW taxes
Driving Options
It's a drive that we know well.
Interesting
We use it going places where our car is a liability.
Makes sense--nice to have options. NM
A Question Tom
I'm terrible with roads. What do you take up to Augusta area?
OW, quit it, you are making my brain hurt!
Oops forgot to mention that time/distance is from Portsmouth NH
It was still called Rt. 3 when we drove it last week
Don't make me googlemap you guys.
The bottom line; Portland to Befast vs Camden?
Belfast vs. Camden/Rockland
Thanks, that's what I was guessing.
Faster to take Rt. 1 to Camden
Summer traffic is why we sometimes take the longer, it can be shorter, in time.
Route 1
I'm considering this for the 2013 season
I knew there was somebody out there!
TomC, you might consider Rockland
Good point. I'll do all I can to avoid "Reds Eats"
Dining in Wiscasset..
I agree about Rockland
Rockland would be my first choice too for leaving a boat.
