One thing that puzzled me, though, is your remark about the "questionable" health care. Perhaps that depends on where in Maine you are; some of Maine's larger communities have decent health care facilities. Maine Medical Center in Portland is a pretty well-respected place.

We've often toyed with the idea of retiring further east -- perhaps near Eggemoggin Reach. Then we think of what it must be like in the winter, how far it is from anything resembling civilization, and say to heck with that! I can see why you felt isolated in Blue Hill -- as idyllic as it is in summer, in the winter, not so much. Where do you think Stephen King gets his material?

Tom pretty much nailed it -- someone with his skill set moving to Poshport is about as ideal as you can get.
