Another factor is F31 hull shapes

The F31 has very narrow aft sections in the amas, so there is not a lot of flotation aft compared with many other tris. If blown over backward (as when beating) there is less resistance (righting force) to keep the boat upright.... another reason to head down (or ease sails) rather than heading up when overpowered.
