down as far a Z town and up into the as far a Bay of LA and never noticed that it was an issue. I even went one step further and installed two of them, one each side, on my boom. I have a pilot house and the extra hand hold while getting up and down off the PH is a real help. Never noticed the extra heat enough even to bring it to mind. In fact, we have teak hand rails along the pilot house top which do get hot enough to notice and comment to each other about. I used 1 1/4 stock with 1 inch posts in the center for better grip and maybe the extra diameter makes them cooler?
