If I were to do that I would...

Have the welder come to the boat and tack weld the feet in place, then remove it for finish welding. Yes, I am very much a DIYer.

There are a few issues with that. The feet need a base - a disc cut a bit bigger than the tube, They could be laser cut but the edges would then need to be ground and polished. I expect I could buy a small metal lathe and do most of the cutting myself but even the Chinese (Harbor Freight, etc.) lathes and cutting tools would add up. They then need to be drilled, tapped and welded to the feet. Stainless steel will shrink and warp unless welded very carefully - it is easy to end up with a rail that won't fit after welding. Expert welders don't come cheap.

Shaping wood or plastic I can do on my own. Since I am retired and now also a homeowner I have more time than money. I also already own the tools to do the job.

Big question for me is were to get a fourteen foot plank, be it teak or Starboard or whatever.
