They were used for storm shutters which I don't need with my sailing. They were corroding and doing damage so I pulled them, redrilled and bunged. They're still available(even in my local hardware), but I don't think I would trust them.

Anything that goes in the wood seems as though it would be a corrosion problem after a few years and may just turn inside the rails. However for something to quickly mount and usually not in place, they're pretty nice.
