you should be able to do the layout in SS on the boat and then take it in to be welded. I did. I had the two ends of the 1 1/4 SS bent and several short pieces of 1 in SS cut. They cut the lengths using a hole saw so the cut would fit the 1 1/4 inch radius of the hand rail to make it easier to weld. I had the "feet" cut and drilled for the holes in the deck and assembled it all on the boat. I used a dremel with a small cut off blade and a pin punch to mark the SS in the right places so the welder could see the exact place to set each of the separate pieces. I had him tack weld everything in place and took it back down to the boat to fit in place. A few adjustments and he completed the welding. Granted, it took some time but it was worth it in the end. I did the same thing on my outboard motor rack and my wind generator pole. All were set up, filed to fit and welded that way.
