I like to take to task any boating company that IMHO misleads or misrepresents their product(s). I post my actual experiences as well as referencing how the company does or doesen't respond. It behooves me how sailors tolerate companies that put out substandard products and with advertising expect sailors to swallow the bait. I treat all companies the same and expect the same. I report my experiences on my web site both good and bad.
As far as Navionics is concerned I can not report anything good from Panama. Yes other charts have issues too. The more as sailors we tolerate sloppy results from companies the more we deserve sloppy products. As picky as I know you to be I have a hard time understanding how you accept that in any company. I have emailed Navionics and received no reply. I registered on their site and commented on my experience with their product and received no reply. For me, that is not a company I wish any of my friends to have to deal with.
BTW. Navionics is a charting program but I can only use their charts. We've been here before so no need to attempt any more defense. OpenCPN is better in that you can pick your own poison. So far, I have not come across any errors in their charting only those in the charts. Time will tell.
