I said in my first post in this thread " the Southwest Caribbean". I do comment on what I know. I have heard that in the USA the program is ...ok. In my experience there where some issues with the Navionics app on the OS but I wasn't commenting on specific aspects of Navionics. And while Mark implies that I had one or two errors in plotting that implication is false. There are a great many places I've watched I have been on land or sailing through islands or across reefs. I run Navionics side by side with OpenCPN or iNavX, mostly any more for laughs. Should anyone find a need to rely on Navionics in Panama -Columbia for navigation they will need more then luck to reach port safely.
I would have expected Navionics to respond that they were sorry and any info I had such as screen shots and data points they would like to see. I have known companies to have products that malfunctioned pay to have the product returned at their great expense to identify and correct the errors. I would have appreciated them offering a refund because the product is dangerous and unusable in the Panama / Colombia area. If IMHO they were an honest and cruiser focused company they should pull any support for charting in areas where their charts are so far off as to be dangerous. And lastly if they are selling a charting program then one ought to be able to use other purchased charts with their charting program. Then I wouldn't be complaining about Navionics but about the quality of charts and the countries that gather the data. Since that info is not transparent in the Navionics app the only way is to comment on the company that bundles it all together.
