I ran a KISS for 2 seasons - switched to solar
In Response To: Solar is more consistent? ()

I try to anchor in relatively calm anchorages. If it isn't blowing 20 Kts the KISS was just making a lot of noise and little power. I would leave the boat for days with everything shut down and only pick up 50 to 70 ah. MY thoughts were that the wind blows at night. I installed a 300 watt (4 x 75w) solar panel 'Bimini and immediately started making 100+ ah per day. The volt regulator would kick in by noon. I hacked the KISS of and sold it because it was casting a shadow on my panels.
