The D400 is certainly today's gold standard but the Superwind is not that far behind, and is also quite quiet.

That said, here in Maine, solar beats the pants of wind so I usually recommend solar over wind as the first alt-e source.. Even the Superwind or D400 need considerable wind to produce decent current. The D400 IS heavy and does require a substantial pole with support bars. With wind gens you do tend to get what you pay for. I have had enough of the "X" type wind gens apart and on my bench for repair that they would be the last product I would recommend.

The SuperWind or D400 are expensive but quite good, when you have enough wind.....
