More difficult than it sounds...
In Response To: So transformer the AC, run small wires down into the boat ()
The AC frequency varies with the wind speed. Transformers only operate within a narrow frequency range. Getting a pair of transformers to do the job would be unlikely.
Bite the bullet, buy the heavy wire and be happy in the relative simplicity.
